Wintery times

We can certainly say that winter has arrived here. Three good snowfalls now and the feeling is pretty serious that winter is here to stay for the next four or five months. I should be skiing Friday I hope although it is said to be pretty thin on the mountain still. William, is happy and will play outside in the snow all day doing whatever so we will get him skiing right away. Madeleine is quite happy in the snow and we will paly it by her feelings for her ski career. CeeCee has a great interest too, but Will seems the most passionate about snow. We are also trying to get a skating rink built and it is coming along slowly. We had a good cold week to start and now more snow to get a base done really well but it isn't terribly cold. There are many skeptics that outdoor rinks are not possible as the amount of snow and mild temps but I will try. The arena skating times don't fit our schedule well so it will be nice to skate whenever we want just like we were used to back in Inglewood.

mystery calf

I do not have gout nor is it a blood clot. It is a strange mysterious calf issue that I have. Otherwise all is fine here, just getting by with a bit of sanity intact. Let me see CeeCee starts kindergarten inhow many years. Sill no winter adventure stories unfortunately for all of us.

Well the snow has finally hit town so things will start rocking here in no time. I have talked to several people who have been out ski touring already and no one can talk about anything else. I am very excited about the prospects ahead with all the new people I have met. I am most intrigued by the activities that Will and CeeCee can get up to, and I really hope it involves fun on skis or at least in the snow.
I have gout now to go with all the things flying through our house, too much beer and not enough real food. I guess it is a good indicator of my old and fragile age.

the week of sick

We have had some sort of virus run through the house this week and the washer and dryer have been running nonstop right after it. CeeCee and I actually avoided it completely although she is working on her third cold this fall. Will puked on the seventh, Sunday I believe, then Mad and Jo followed each day after. Will was the most hilarious puker. Sitting reading a story before bed he looked a bit pale and had lagged a bit later in the day, Josie asked if he felt OK. Ya Momma, he replied but about ten seconds later he hurled a tsunami of brown curdles all over his bed. We had just finished setting up their new room an hour ago and had embarked on a fresh new sleep program designed to get them tosleep in and aid in their journey to the bathroom whilst half asleep. WE may try that again later but I would be surprised. He chucked up four pints probably and it smelled of incredibly pungent Asiago cheese and warm malt vinegar with a dash of bile. I was incredibly curious as too what had been consumed at the birthday party earlier that day. Within seconds he was sitting there covered in barf ready for the story to continue saying he was done puking momma. Well he was done and seemed to be pretty positive but was in bed once his sheets were changed and the cover disinfected and bed remade. When I returned from getting that laundry started for the 72 hour enduro session it was about to face they were all asleep. MadB was next on Mon she got the carpet in her room, which i am still scrubbing plus just a few dribbles on all sheets and blankets to warrant their laundering. She had a tougher time and was much more affected by her malady. She took it quite seriously even personally that she was sick. Josie tells me between wretches she would list off the things she was going to have to miss because she was sick wailing and moaning when she couldn't think of words fast enough also trying to sneak peeks in the mirror to see how she looked through all this . She had a lot of dry heaving and was up quite a bit compared to Wil. Again the laundry piled up then Josie's turn on tuesday. She did not get puke on anything thankfully. Proabably four loads of laundry a day average for three days plus rewash after everyone felt better, usually we do at least a load a day. Wow what fun. Wednesday everyone was back to the normal, Thursday we all fought for most of the day so i took my leave from 3-10 and accomplished many tasks like insulating a wall, repairing/butchering the bathroom floor and replacing the toilet. What a week.

A space in my nose

I am back from Calgary and ready to enjoy a few days off here. I willtry to really get settled into this house before work gets busy again. There has been a tonne of rain which we would have loved trade for snow but it has been on the mild side for weeks it seems. I am keen to ski and Lake Louise has opened already so I am feeling weird about the long season Alberta enjoys albeit cold. Driving past Louise a few days back they are really just dusted and the Downhill course is all man made for the world cup in a couple weeks. The top of Our mountain has been bombardered with snow for a couple weeks, we just need some lower base to keep on track with the fast approaching opening day. I had day surgery in Calgary last week to remove a lot of polyps from my nostrils and sinuses, so my nose now works the way it did five years ago. Unfortunately we still have a kid in diapers and I am smelling all the odours I have happily been ignorant of. It smells good here outside unlike Inglewood which I beleive caused my problem in the first place. Revelstoke is moist and cedary and it actually smells like snow today. Josie mentioned this and I had to agree. She is my best life helpmate and oooey goooey wife without whom life would unbeleivably different and not as fulfilling with regards to family life and the smells of different preciptitation and all the great benefits acheived throughout and therein. I am not drunk but do feel strange still from the anaesthetic. I am also aware of a giant space behind my nose. I really love the kids and think they are cute probably because josie is cute. Anyway she said other people's husbands say nice things about their wives but I don't really beleive her. I can see husbands saying nice things about other people's wives but we realize these are qualifiied statements that have no real meaning because of the understood factors involved in the statement so noonne can really be introuble from wife or other husband, which may have more bearing so as not to decline in status as a dude. In summary I really think everyone is great and awesome especially my wife and all of her freinds.

We had a fun time for Halloween

Mad and Wil had a very fun day and a great night of trick or treating. They started out with a bit of hestation but near the end were practically running to houses. Scary and creepy they were right into it, only one house was completely passed by and one a bit too scray to go right up to. Luckily this man came out. That is it with them on the side walk. can everyone guess the costumes, wil's is a little more complex than you might think.
